AZ Woman Seriously Injured in Motorcycle Accident

by Administrator 6. May 2009 06:42

An Arizona woman was flown to a local hospital Wednesday morning with serious injuries after her motorcycle was struck by a car on the Glendale Avenue on-ramp to the Loop 101. Preliminary evidence suggests that the woman may be an off-duty Valley police officer. Initial reports also indicate this, but Glendale Fire Department spokesman Daniel Valenzuela said he was not able to confirm or deny that.

According to Valenzuela the woman was dressed in civilian clothing and did not appear to be wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. The driver of the car walked away from the accident without injury. Officers from the Arizona Department of Public Safety were on the scene investigating the collision. The accident occurred around 8:30 a.m.

“Whether you’re on a motorcycle or in a car, it’s a good idea to be aware of your surroundings and practice defensive driving skills,” Valenzuela said.
