Three-vehicle accident ties up traffic in northwest Valley

A three-vehicle car accident in the northwest Valley on Grand Avenue near Loop 303 tied up traffic, but caused no serious injuries.

According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the accident occurred asa  17-year-old was driving east on the roadway when he traveled into the wesbound lanes and sideswiped two cars and collided with a third car headon before coming to a stop.

The cause of the crash and other details are currently under investigation at this time. The driver of the car that was hit headon was taken to the hospital by helicopter and the passenger in another vehicle was also taken to the hospital. None of the injuries were said to be life-threatening. Witnesses say that speed may have been a factor in the accident.
