Woman awarded $1.5 million by BCI Coca-Cola

A woman from Arizona was recently awarded $1.5 million by BCI Coca-Cola Bottling Company. The woman filed a lawsuit against the company because it owned a leaking refrigerator that caused her to suffer an injury while shopping at a grocery store.

The woman was shopping at Fry's Food last year, when she slipped in the water that was leaking from the refrigerator. The lawsuit claims that the woman suffered permanent pain in her spinal cord because of the fall. The bottling company was sued, rather than the grocery store, because the refrigerator was found to have been leaking for several years without being replaced by the company.

The woman's attorneys initially asked for the company to pay $149,000 in a settlement. The company refused, and the case went to court. The jury awarded the woman $1.5 million in damages and medical expenses.
