Pedestrian struck in light rail accident

by Administrator 30. November 2010 03:39

According to the Phoenix Police Department, a 56-year-old man was injured in a pedestrian accident after he was struck by a light rail.

The man ran against the signal on westbound Central Avenue and he was struck by the light rail that was approaching the platform at Indian School Road. Investigators believe that the man was running to catch the train when he was struck.

The driver of the light rail said that he did everything he could to stop, including pulling the emergency brake, but the pedestrian was still pushed nearly 20 feet. The man was taken to the hospital where he remains in critical condition.

Our thoughts are with the friends and family of the victim in the crash during this difficult time.
