Study suggests that private planes add airbags

by Administrator 1. February 2011 04:25

A new study recommends that airbags be placed inside of private planes. The Federal Air Safety investigators have issued thier first 'nonbinding recommendation' that airbags be installed into the privately owned planes.

The National Transportation Safety Board's study has shown that the benefits that are associated with having airbags will significantly help reduce injuries and fatalities in plane crashes. The study assessed the performance of airbags in roughly two dozen different accidents over a three year span.

The board wants to make this rule a voluntary compliance because the Federal Aviation Administration is the only group that has the power to make safety improvements. General aviation accidents take about 500 lives each year across the U.S.

Arizona plane crash rate higher than national number

by Administrator 16. August 2010 05:51

A recent fatal plane crash in Arizona has put Arizona on track to be higher than the national number of fatal plane crashes.

Since 2002, Arizona has been higher than the national average every year except for one, among non-military and non -commercial flights. The rate is found by measuring the number of deadly flights per 100,000 hours of flight. In 2008, Arizona was double the national rate with a number of 2.76 per 100,000 flight hours.

Arizona has had 75 general aviation crashes since 2005. Officials from the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association suggest that the hot temperature and treacherous terrains are a bad combination and may lead to the number of accidents in the area.
