Pedestrian struck in light rail accident

According to the Phoenix Police Department, a 56-year-old man was injured in a pedestrian accident after he was struck by a light rail.

The man ran against the signal on westbound Central Avenue and he was struck by the light rail that was approaching the platform at Indian School Road. Investigators believe that the man was running to catch the train when he was struck.

The driver of the light rail said that he did everything he could to stop, including pulling the emergency brake, but the pedestrian was still pushed nearly 20 feet. The man was taken to the hospital where he remains in critical condition.

 Our thoughts are with the friends and family of the victim in the crash during this difficult time.

Woman killed after car and bus accident

A 63-year-old woman was killed in a car and bus accident near the Glendale-Phoenix border last week.

The accident occurred aroun 9 a.m. when the woman did not stop at the intersection at 47th Avenue. The woman continued to turn left even though the light at the intersection was red.

The woman's car was struck by the Valley Metro bus that was on its way to Arizona State University. The woman was transported to the hospital, but was later pronounced dead from injuries sustained.

Bus accidents can happen unexpectedly and cause serious injury to all involved, our thoughts are with the friends and family of the victim.

 

Driver crashes into side of train

A driver was injured after crashing into a train when he failed to see the train at the railroad crossing.

According to Pinal County police, the 30-year-old man was driving westbound when he passed a deputy who said that the man appeared to be texting while he was driving.

A frieght train was at the railroad crossing and the man was unable to stop in time and crashed into the train. The lights were on and the rail was down at the crossing. The man and his son had to be cut from the car and he suffered a brain injury as a result of the wreck.

Plane crashes in Northern Arizona, pilot survives

The pilot of a small, private plane survived a plane crash in Seligman last week.

The 56-year-old made the call to authorities reporting that his plane had gone down. He also was able to say that he suffered a head injury and was very cold, but was unable to describe his location.

Helicopter crews were sent out to search for the man. He was eventually found when officials used GPS coordinates on his cell phone to pinpoint his location. The man was found alert and conscious and was flown to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A two-vehicle collision in Bisbee left one injured

A two-vehicle collision in Bisbee left one person injured. The accident occurred off of Highway 80 and involved a parked truck and a Toyota car.

The incident began at 2:30 when a 42-year-old that was driving a truck realized that his tailgate was open and he pulled to the medain to get out and shut it. As he was getting out of the vehicle, he was struck from behind by a 73-year-old woman.

The man was thrown from his open vehicle and was airlifted to the hospital as a precaution. The woman was also transported to the hospital after the accident, but both people have been treated and released.
